Home » News » Investing in the Future: New Scholarships for THANZ members

THANZ Council has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to expand our support for the thrombosis and haemostasis community across our region. A core part of our mission is to foster the next generation of researchers and clinicians who will drive our discipline forward. We are proud to announce the launch of two major new scholarship pathways designed to do exactly that!

Through the generous support of our industry partners Novo Nordisk and Sobi, we are introducing the following opportunities for our emerging leaders:

1. The THANZ Novo Nordisk PhD Scholarship

We are committed to encouraging scholarly achievement and academic excellence in PhD students dedicated to the field of thrombosis and haemostasis.

  • The Award: A top-up stipend of $15,000 AUD annually, for up to 3 years.
  • Eligibility: Open to PhD students who hold an externally funded, competitive postgraduate research scholarship (such as the RTP, NHMRC Postgraduate Scholarship, or similar).
  • Timing: Students must apply in the first year of their candidature, at the same time they enroll.

2. The THANZ Sobi Clinical Scholarship

This scholarship is designed to support academic excellence for advanced haematology trainees undertaking a Fellowship at recognized Centres of Excellence in our field.

  • The  Award: A top-up stipend of $15,000 AUD annually, for up to 2 years.
  • Eligibility: Open to advanced haematology trainees. Applications should be submitted in the year prior to the proposed fellowship.
  • Global Focus: While local fellowships are highly valued, preference will be       given to candidates undertaking fellowships outside their country of residence. We want to actively support trainees in gaining exposure to diverse healthcare systems and unique clinical environments that they can bring back to our local community.
