THANZ Young Investigator Award

This $2,000 travel grant is awarded to the author of the best abstract submitted to Blood or the Scientific Workshop by an THANZ member who is ≤35 or within 5 years of completion of PhD or sub-specialty training. The THANZ Young Investigator Award was presented for the first time in 2024 and was known as the Sobi Award.

2025 Winner

The 2025 Young Investigator grant was awarded to Francesco Monti (Griffith University) for his abstract ‘Haemocompatibility testing of catheter materials in human blood indicates activation of coagulation and haemolysis in the presence of chlorhexidine coatings’.

2024 Winner

The inaugral Sobi grant was awarded to Rowena Brook, (Northern Health, Vic) for her abstract Multimodal cardiovascular risk prediction model in diabetes –incorporation of global coagulation assays outperforms HbA1c and Framingham Risk Score
