Head of Haemostasis Thrombosis Unit
The Alfred Hospital
The THANZ Clinical Trials Group is an active collaborative group of clinical trialists from Australia and New Zealand interested in thrombosis and haemostasis. The current membership of about 20 Institutions is comprised of predominantly hospital-based haemotologists but also vascular physicians and vascular surgeons. The group has successfully performed collaborative research over the last 5 years including prophylaxis studies in arthroplasty and treatment studies in venous thromboembolism. Studies in progress include Matisse DVT and Matisse PE (pentasaccharide versus standard treatment of DVT and Pulmonary Embolism), CLOT in cancer (oral anticoagulation versus Fragmin for acute venous thromboembolism in patients with active malignancy) and Thrive II (direct antithrombin versus oral anticoagulation in acute venous thromboembolism).
The group also participates with international study groups, and is developing home-grown studies for patients with haemostatic or thromboembolic disease. Trials group meetings are held twice each year. New members are welcome and all enquiries should be directed to Huyen Tran - email@example.com
